What’s your body shape? Find out with our Body Shape Calculator! By inputting a few measurements, you can discover which of the common body types (hourglass, pear, apple, etc.) you most closely resemble. Knowing your body shape is useful for choosing flattering clothing styles and setting realistic fitness goals.
Body Shape Calculator
Enter your measurements (in inches or cm) to find your body type:
How it works: Body shape is typically determined by the proportions of your bust, waist, and hips:
- Bust – measurement around the fullest part of your chest.
- Waist – measurement at the narrowest point of your midsection.
- Hips – measurement at the widest part of your hips (around the buttocks).
Our calculator analyzes these three numbers to classify your body into a category:
- Hourglass: Bust and hips are almost equal, with a significantly narrower waist. This curvy shape is well-balanced top and bottom.
- Pear (Triangle): Hips are measurably larger than the bust, with a defined waist. Weight tends to be carried in the lower body (bottom and thighs).
- Inverted Triangle: Bust (or shoulder width) is larger than hips. The upper body is broader, tapering to narrower hips. Often associated with athletic builds.
- Rectangle (Straight): Bust, waist, and hips have relatively close measurements. Little waist definition (waist circumference is at least 75–80% of the bust measurement). The body appears fairly straight up and down.
- Apple (Round): The waist is larger or nearly as large as the bust. Weight is concentrated in the midsection. The bust may be full, and hips are narrower than the waist in some cases.
After you input your measurements, the calculator will report your likely body shape and a brief description. Keep in mind no tool is 100% perfect – body shapes exist on a spectrum. You might not fit neatly into one category, and that’s okay. Our tips:
- If you’re in between shapes, you can take fashion advice from both categories.
- All body shapes are beautiful! This tool is meant to empower you with information, not judge any shape as better than another.
- Use your shape info for fun style experimentation. For instance, hourglass shapes might accentuate their waist with belts, while pear shapes might draw attention upward with bright tops.
