Enter your body weight to estimate how much water you should drink each day:

How it works: A common guideline is to drink about 30–35 ml of water per kilogram of body weight (or roughly ½ oz per pound). Our calculator applies this rule. For example, a 70 kg (154 lb) person might need ~2.4 liters of fluids daily as a baseline. Keep in mind this includes all sources of water (beverages and food). If you exercise or live in a hot climate, your needs will be higher. The calculator provides a starting point, and you can adjust for your lifestyle:

  • Exercise: Add around 12 oz (350 ml) of water for every 30 minutes of intense activity.
  • Hot weather: You may need an extra 1–2 cups (250–500 ml) on very hot days to make up for sweat.
  • Pregnant/Breastfeeding: Higher intake is recommended (consult guidelines or your doctor).

Always listen to your body: thirst is a helpful indicator. And remember, drinking more water is generally beneficial, but don’t overdo it – extremely high intake in a short time can lead to water intoxication. For most people, drinking when thirsty and aiming for the recommended amount will keep you safely hydrated.
